Residents say County Road 23 was shifted without proper notice; board asked to review plan

McDowell said utility poles being staked and additional tree removal signaled a larger change: "I later found out the road is actually being shifted an unprecedented 10 feet to the east." He asked the board to review that section of the transportation plan and follow up.
Residents argued the shift increases noise, places traffic closer to east-side homes and could reduce property values while creating better trail access for west-side properties. The board acknowledged the concern and offered residents an opportunity for continued conversation after the meeting and at a planned evening open house in August.
No formal vote or directive was taken during the open forum; staff noted that additional discussion and an evening meeting were scheduled to accommodate public input.
