Shelby Williams, Benton County Conservation Director, reported that water service at Rodgers Park has been restored but Hannen Lake is experiencing septic-system problems. Temporary holding tanks are in place, and Williams said the Iowa DNR will need to issue permits for replacement or reconstruction; the county anticipates design and implementation costs.
Williams told the board there is a future watershed project under consideration that could provide up to 75% grant reimbursement of eligible expenses. She said she will work with Auditor Hayley Rippel to explore funding sources and potential budget amendments before any work proceeds. No appropriations were approved at the July 28 meeting; permitting and funding strategy are next steps.
