At a regular board meeting on Nov. 11, 2024, the Union Grove Independent School District Board of Trustees completed its organization for the 2024–2026 election term and elected officers for the new term.
Nomination and unanimous votes installed Jody Day as president (motion by Tim Turner, seconded by Tim Bower), Justin Smith as vice president (motion by Tim Turner, seconded by Tim Bower) and Tim Turner as secretary (motion by Justin Smith, seconded by Brian Cox). The board recorded those officer elections as carried unanimously.
The Assistant Secretary position was contested. A motion to nominate Tim Bower (moved by Tim Turner, seconded by Brian Cox) and a separate nomination for Michael Potter (moved by Tim Bower, seconded by Justin Smith) led to a roll-call style outcome recorded in the minutes: Tim Bower received three votes, Michael Potter received two votes, and President Jody Day abstained. Michael Potter was noted as absent from the meeting.
The board then recessed to an executive (closed) session at 7:05 p.m. on a motion by Tim Bower, seconded by Tim Turner. No actions were reported following the closed session. The meeting concluded with an adjournment motion by Tim Turner, seconded by Justin Smith; the motion carried unanimously.
The officer elections take effect as the board begins the 2024–2026 organizational term.
