Uintah City council accepts official canvass, declares municipal winners

City Recorder Michelle Mortensen presented the official canvass of the Nov. 4 municipal election at the Uintah City Council meeting on Nov. 18.
"With 814 registered voters in Uintah, 326 ballots cast, and 40.05% voter turnout," Mortensen read, then reported the vote totals for mayor and council seats. The results reported in the canvass showed that Kristi (transcript alternatively spelled Kristil) Lee Bell received 282 votes for a four-year mayoral term; Michelle H. Roberts received 245 votes and John Teague Sorenson received 213 votes for the two available four-year council seats. Benjamin R. Mitchell received 130 votes.
A motion to accept the canvass was offered and the council formalized the outcome, resulting in the winners being declared. The minutes record no contested objections during the meeting. The acceptance completes the council-level certification reported at the Nov. 18 session; county documents were noted as the official source for final certified totals.
The council did not take additional action related to election administration at the meeting. No public comments about the canvass were recorded.
