The Inkster City Council approved multiple consent‑agenda items on Aug. 3, clearing a set of routine permits and community event requests.
Among the items approved were a special land use for Brother Smokehouse (a cigar lounge) at 27553 Cherry Hill Road; a land services line replacement project; the 7th annual Inktown Bridal Car and Bike Show; a street closure for Aug. 8; and a resolution establishing a community event sponsorship program. The council also approved a Community Street Festival scheduled Aug. 21 and approved a $1,500 sponsorship to fund a senior tent for the Robichaud/Robichaud reunion.
Motions were moved and seconded and passed by voice vote with little discussion. One council member asked why the sponsorship amount was $1,500; the mover said the amount was chosen "just to sponsor the senior tent" for Inkster High graduates. These approvals will allow event organizers and staff to finalize logistics and vendor arrangements.
