The WEST ORANGE-COVE CISD Board of Trustees voted 7–0 to adopt the Bluebonnet Instructional Materials and the OER Transition Plan for K–8 and Algebra I math. Gina Yeaman made the motion; Demetrius Hunter seconded and the motion carried with all trustees recorded in favor.
Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction Ashton Knox explained the background and rollout, stating, “This curriculum will serve grades KG-8th and Algebra I.” Knox said the curriculum was created by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), that TEA would provide funds to purchase it, and that Region V would provide ongoing training and implementation support. The minutes record the district’s intention to digitize the paper-and-pencil materials to prepare students for STAAR testing per TEA guidance.
