Oakwood Board previews permanent-improvement levy renewal, approves FY2027 forecast filing
Summary
Board members were told a permanent-improvement renewal levy will appear on the November ballot (described as a continuation, not a tax increase) and the board approved the district's certificate of estimated resources and the financial forecast/assumptions for FY2027–2030 required for state filing.

The Oakwood City Board of Education on Aug. 3 approved key finance items and discussed a levy-renewal plan for the November ballot.
Chair told the board the permanent-improvement renewal would be asked of voters in November and emphasized that "it is no new tax because it's a renewal," meaning the proposal would continue existing levy revenue rather than increase the tax rate. The board approved the certificate of estimated resources for fiscal year 2027—a statutorily required compliance document that certifies beginning cash balances and revenue estimates—and accepted a report listing commercial-paper and banker's acceptance securities owned by the district for audit purposes.
The board also approved the initial financial forecast and assumptions for fiscal years 2027 through 2030; the item must be submitted by Aug. 31 to the Ohio Department of Education under the current timeline. Board members were told July/August timing delayed some closings, and staff said the district will present updated monthly reports once regular cycles resume.
Next steps: staff will provide updated financial reports in subsequent meetings and prepare levy materials for community outreach in advance of the November ballot.
