The Valley View ISD Board of Trustees accepted the resignation of Place 1 trustee Anthony Pinal and unanimously appointed Omar Garcia to fill the unexpired term during a special meeting Nov. 22, 2024, at the district central office in Pharr.
Board President Claudia Coronado made the motion to accept Pinal’s resignation, which Jaime Gaona seconded; the minutes record that the "motion carries unanimously." Later, Coronado moved and Marisol Peña seconded the nomination and appointment of Omar Garcia. The board noted the appointment was followed by an oath administered by Judge Nereida Lopez-Singleterry.
The action was taken early in the meeting under the agenda items for Board Member resignation and trustee appointment for Place 1. The minutes list present and absent trustees and show the board completed the appointment before moving into a closed executive session on personnel.
