The Van Alstyne ISD Board of Trustees on Sept. 23 approved a $2,025,350 package to expand and complete outdoor athletic and site improvements at district facilities. The motion, made by Trustee Kurt Himmelreich and seconded by Trustee Beau Williams, passed by a 7-0 vote.
The approved scope includes $29,625 to increase the softball center field to 210 feet; $650,750 to add four tennis courts (bringing the total to eight); $568,000 for an additional parking lot; $4,029 to extend a 1-inch water line to the football facility; $15,209 to pave an approach to the band practice field; and a contingency fund of $757,737. Acting Superintendent Ryan Coleman reported the items as recommended by district staff during the meeting's facilities update. The board’s approval follows the administrator report on high school completion items and associated site work.
The motion record shows all seven board members voting in favor. Next steps include contract procurement and scheduling with district staff overseeing project implementation.
