The planning commission voted to recommend approval of a sign and storefront rebranding for Planet Fitness at 675 Main Street, provided the applicant adds the numeric address above both entry doors.
“I'm gonna make a motion that we do a positive recommendation, with the condition that the address is put above both of the entry doors,” said Jeremy, the city planner, who moved the motion. Chairman Mark Trevella seconded the motion and both commissioners in attendance indicated assent.
Commissioners emphasized visibility from multiple approaches during the discussion, noting the corner has two entrances visible from different parking and street approaches including Farley Place. The applicants said they would supply vinyl address signage above each door to satisfy the condition.
Staff clarified that the commission’s recommendation applies to the sign permit review; any separate building-permit work to remove or repaint façade elements must go through the building department. The commission instructed staff to include the address condition in its recommendation when forwarding the sign permit to the next review stage.
