Curtis Robinson, president of the Marin County Office of Education board, called the monthly meeting to order and asked for a roll call and vote to approve the agenda. A trustee moved to approve the agenda, but the roll call later revealed a single "no" vote, preventing the board from taking formal action at this session.
"We're gonna have a meeting, but we're not gonna take action because 1 of the trustees voted no on the agenda," Robinson said, then proposed a short recess and a plan to reconvene when more members could participate. The transcript records brief confusion after the vote, with at least one participant saying they had understood the vote to be unanimous and others asking for clarification.
An agency official apologized to members of the public who had come to attend. "My apologies to the public who spent a lot of time and energy to get here to be part of this meeting," the official said, noting efforts to improve attendance and voting in future meetings. Robinson suggested rescheduling the meeting in one to three weeks to ensure fuller participation.
No substantive agenda items were adopted during the session. The president called a 10-minute recess and indicated staff would follow up about reconvening the meeting.
