Moody's affirms West Fargo A3 rating; staff to monitor data-center legislation

City Administrator Dustin Scott told commissioners that Moody's published an updated rating in connection with a refunding improvement bond and that the city maintained an A3 rating, a sign the agency views the city's financial position and debt as sound. Scott said the rating has been maintained since 2022 and will be reflected in materials the city will post publicly.
On data centers, Scott said staff had followed direction to research options and take part in stakeholder conversations but recommended slowing public engagement until legislative and other organizational work matured. He noted a community-hosted information session was planned for Sept. 17 and that staff would continue monitoring developments and return with recommendations when appropriate.
