The commission adopted the West Fargo growth area plan on its second reading after staff summarized roughly 18 months of outreach and an earlier presentation by the consulting team. Dan Hansen said the plan includes recommended next steps such as lagoon redevelopment and preparatory work to attract large-site employers, including geotechnical and environmental studies and potential district rezoning.
"This is something that's been going on for roughly about 18 months now," Hansen said, adding that staff met with a site selector and followed up with the airport authority about height restrictions and potential runway considerations. Commissioners voted in favor of adopting the plan on a roll call vote.
