Facilities director Mister Aguilar provided a slide-guided update on dozens of bond-funded and local projects across the district. Completed work includes synthetic turf at secondary fields, stadium turf replacement, new scoreboards and LED lighting upgrades. Ongoing and design-stage projects include security vestibules at select schools, HVAC upgrades at several campuses (including the aquatic center), roofing repairs, restroom and kitchen improvements, a new agriculture science facility and various athletic‑facility improvements.
Trustees asked for status updates and timing on specific items. On the Weslaco East vestibule, facilities staff said access controls remain to be installed and that crews are scheduled to complete the work within days to a couple of weeks, subject to part availability. On HVAC issues in locker rooms, staff said custom coils are on order and estimated installation in two to three weeks if deliveries occur as expected. Facilities staff described drainage and grading plans to prevent field runoff and said engineers were working to route water toward Panther Drive rather than into playing surfaces.
Board members repeatedly emphasized campus safety and continuity of services: staff said campuses remain prioritized for critical staffing, and that maintenance and vendor follow-up are ongoing. Trustees asked administration for a follow-up list of pending projects, specific completion dates and an itemization of which projects are bond-funded vs. fund-balance funded.
