WESLACO ISD board authorizes posting to sell two small district parcels; trustees hold larger 12‑acre tract

He noted one recent sale of an agricultural farm tract for $1,550,000 that did not have to follow the same process because it involved a governmental entity using eminent domain authority.
Trustees debated using proceeds to address a district deficit versus retaining land for future need. Trustee Marco De Los Santos warned trustees to consider long‑term value, asking rhetorically, "Would you sell your house to pay your credit cards?" Trustee De Los Santos argued that larger parcels may be strategic for future campuses. Several trustees and administration agreed to proceed with A and B while deferring action on C.
On a motion by Trustee Benjamin Castillo, seconded by Coach Graff, the board authorized administration to post notice of intent to sell Properties A and B and to solicit proposals in accordance with Texas law; the chair called for a voice vote and the motion carried.
