La Porte County board forwards automatic alcohol permit renewals to state

The La Porte County Alcoholic Beverage Board on Aug. 6 read and forwarded a slate of automatic permit renewals to the Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission after finding no remonstrators present. Michelle Charber, who identified herself as State Excise Police, listed the La Porte City renewals and said she would transmit them to Indianapolis for processing.
"So I am going to forward all of these down to, the ATC, since there are no remonstrators here," Charber said during the meeting. Tommy Klavick, the other board member present, said he had no issues and moved to approve the automatic renewals.
The renewals named venues and retailers across La Porte County, including La Porte Yacht Club, Allure Event Center, Ringer Sports Bar and Grill, Virk's Liquor No. 7, and automatic renewals on board 1 such as Eastside Fresh Meat and Produce, American Legion posts, Beacon Hills (Legacy) Golf Club, Dollar General store number 23781 in Kingsford Heights, and Buffalo Wild Wings. Charber said the items would be corrected in Indianapolis if needed and the permits mailed once the ATC record shows the permit as active.
Because the local panel did not have a full quorum for a recorded local vote, the board did not finalize local approvals; the items were forwarded to the state commission for formal action.
