The Wink‑Loving Independent School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously Aug. 18 to set the district’s property tax rate for the 2025–2026 tax year at $0.7942. The adopted rate breaks down to a maintenance and operations (M&O) rate of $0.6689 and an interest and sinking (I&S) rate of $0.1253 per $100 of taxable value. Trustee Chad Evans moved to set the rate and Trustee Jerome Dewberry seconded; the motion passed with all members present voting in favor.
Board materials cited the statutory process for publishing a proposed tax rate and holding a public hearing; the minutes note the board’s consideration of both M&O and debt service needs in arriving at the proposed rates. "I move the Board Approve a property tax rate of $0.7942 for the 2025-2026 tax year," Trustee Evans said when making the motion. The vote was recorded as unanimous with six trustees present; Trustee Brad White was absent. The board also confirmed that notices and hearings met truth‑in‑taxation requirements documented in the agenda packet.
