The Kandiyohi City Council approved two community event requests at its July 20 meeting. A licensed petting zoo business from Litchfield was cleared to use the open area in Whittier Park near the dead end of 7th Street on August 3, 2026; the vendor carries insurance and will handle cleanup. Council Member Toby Giese moved to approve the petting zoo request; Council Member Spencer Hunt seconded and the motion carried.
Council also approved closing the alley by the fire hall for Kandi Night Out activities on August 5, 2026. Council Member Scott McGillivray moved to approve closing the alley; Council Member Jeff Clark seconded and the motion carried with Council Member Toby Giese abstaining. The clerk recorded the event announcements for August 5 (Kandiyohi Blood Drive 12–6 p.m. and Kandiyohi Community Night 5–7 p.m.).
