Wink‑Loving ISD readies for school year; superintendent cites healthy fund balance and Aug. 7 start date

Superintendent Scotty Carman told the board that staff are preparing for the 2025–26 school year and that in‑service training begins Monday, Aug. 4, Meet the Teacher is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 6, and the first day of school is Thursday, Aug. 7.
Carman reported the district is projected to have "around 105,000,000 in Fund Balance" and said the board may be able to decrease the 2025 tax rate. The superintendent framed the numbers as a projection and indicated the tax rate decision is not final.
Wink Junior High/High School Principal Kittie Gibson reported combined JH/HS enrollment of 200 (high school 138, junior high 62) and said the master schedule is completed with registration and early days of school used to make adjustments. She listed endorsements and programs offered this year, including agriculture, welding, culinary, robotics, STEM, technology, band and art.
Elementary Principal Candice Voyles reported total elementary enrollment of 232 for the 2024–25 year and noted new staff additions: Kaecye Resendez as 2nd grade teacher and Ginger Clausen as instructional aide. Both principals highlighted readiness measures and upcoming events tied to the school calendar.
