Mayor Louann Cox presented proclamations April 21 honoring two community members. The council recognized Ron Hartrum for 24 years of service as a volunteer firefighter and for serving as Borough Emergency Operations Manager since 2023. The proclamation notes Hartrum's roles as Head Trustee, Captain, Assistant Chief and Chief, and his New Jersey State Fireman's exemption received in May 2011.
The council also commended Benjamin Charles Fedon of Washington Troop 154 for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout and for planning, coordinating and executing a trailhead sign and boardwalk at Shabbecong Creek Preserve; the proclamation notes he raised $1,000 for maintenance of the preserve. Mayor Cox read the proclamations into the record, including the closing language: "IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this 21st day of April 2026." Council members and the manager offered congratulations during the meeting.
The recognitions were presented as part of the opening agenda and were followed by routine council business.
