The Washington Borough Council approved the fiscal year 2026 municipal budget and a related amendment during its April 21 meeting. Resolution 2026-40 (2026 Municipal Budget) was approved as amended on a roll call of Ayes 4, Nays 2 (France, Gorshkov), Abstain 1 (Matteo). The council later approved Resolution 2026-49 (budget amendment) on the same vote split.
The budget document presented lists Total General Revenues at $9,584,872.31, Total General Appropriations at $9,471,218.31 and an anticipated surplus of $850,000. The dedicated sewer and solid-waste utility budgets and line-item appropriations were included in the packet. Borough Manager Brian Bond said he was pleased the budget passed: "Glad that the budget went through; it's something I'm proud of," he said. Councilman Christopher Infinito emphasized that the budget continues to support fire and EMS, funds capital improvements such as paving, and that the council has worked to reduce municipal debt without using the borough's surplus.
The council's budget votes reflected some dissent: Councilmembers Edward France and Cassandra Gorshkov voted against the measures, and Councilman Marco Matteo abstained on one vote. The resolutions were moved and seconded by Councilwoman Sherry Musick and Councilman Christopher Infinito. The council directed administration to proceed with the adopted appropriation schedule and follow any public-notice and publication requirements tied to final adoption.
