The Franklin Historic Commission on Aug. 5 recommended the Village Council approve a demolition permit for 32875 Wing Lake Road after reviewing a tree survey submitted by Mark Adler Homes.
Mark Adler told the commission the house will be demolished for new construction and that some trees fall within the planned building footprint and therefore would need removal. He said the tree schedule and condition are included in the site plan packet shown to commissioners and that the site plan identifies trees by number and condition. Adler stated, “So this is a home that, it's it's gonna be demolished for a new construction.”
Commissioners confirmed the property is outside the historic-district boundary and not a contributing historic resource. The commission moved and seconded a recommendation to Village Council to permit demolition; the motion passed by voice vote. Commissioners asked that tree retention be prioritized where feasible and noted the survey numbers and condition ratings included in the packet would guide which trees must be removed versus retained.
The recommendation will be forwarded to the Village Council for final action.
