Commission approves rezoning to allow formal parking lot to relieve street parking and dust

Property owner Timothy Kader said the proposed concrete lot would reduce dust, drainage issues and parking congestion associated with an empty parcel currently used for overflow parking. Neighbors raised questions about traffic, potential changes in property values and whether the site would remain a parking lot or be redeveloped for other uses in the future.
Supporters at the hearing said the lot would be dedicated to serve the adjacent facility and would not be open to general commercial use; one speaker said formalized parking would improve neighborhood conditions and reduce dust. Commissioners concluded the request would improve an existing problem area and approved it 5–0.
