District presents dyslexia services report and introduces new dyslexia teacher

Gwen Gilliam, director of student services, presented the district’s dyslexia services report for 2024–25, summarizing program curriculum, parent notification procedures, student demographics and STAAR/EOC performance for students served. Gilliam said last year’s data were compiled with retired dyslexia teacher Tamara Elliott.
Gilliam introduced Paula Marshburn as the district’s new dyslexia teacher; Marshburn previously taught fourth-grade English Language Arts at WEST RUSK COUNTY CONSOLIDATED ISD and provided a brief summary of her past experience and dyslexia training. The report was presented for trustees’ information; no action was required.
