Board adopts naming and dangerous‑materials policies on second reading

Granite trustees approved Article VIII.A.27 (naming district properties and approving mascots, monuments, artwork) and Article V.A.2 (prohibition of dangerous materials on district property) on second and final readings.
On Dec. 10 the Granite School District Board of Education approved two policy changes on second and final readings. The board adopted Article VIII.A.27, governing naming of district properties and approval of mascots, monuments and permanent artwork, and Article V.A.2, concerning prohibition of dangerous materials on district property.
Julie Jackson moved to approve Article VIII.A.27 and Kris Nguyen seconded; the board voted to adopt the policy on a second and final reading. Julie Jackson also moved approval of Article V.A.2, with Clarke Nelson seconding, and the board passed that policy on second and final reading as well. Both actions were recorded as passed unanimously.
The policies are now part of district administrative guidance; staff will publish the updated policy language and provide any implementation instructions to schools and departments.
