Council OKs MFT resurfacing bid solicitation, approves Harlem Ave parade closure and a $47,970 payment to Morris Engineering

Alderman Jack Clifford moved to solicit bids for the 2026 Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) Resurfacing Program; the motion carried on voice vote. The council also adopted a resolution to close a portion of Harlem Avenue on July 4 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for the annual Independence Day Parade.
Council approved payment to Morris Engineering for engineering services in the amount of $47,970.76. During his report Clifford noted the city currently pays $65 per ton for salt and warned that costs could rise to $150 per ton next year; he said the City will acquire as much salt as allowed before any cost increase.
