Recreation Chair Alderman Jeffrey Key moved and the council approved hiring J&M Displays Fireworks for $28,000 to provide a July 3, 2026 Independence Day fireworks display; the meeting minutes note the amount increased this year due to the 250th celebration. The motion passed on roll call with seven ayes.
The council also approved a proposal from FP United Landscaping in the amount of $16,560 for spring and fall cleanup at city parks, the swimming pool and recreation center. Alderman Key moved both measures and both were approved without recorded opposition.
