The board approved a finance committee recommendation to authorize bills to be paid and mailed prior to regular board meetings so payments are not delayed.
Lana Nelson reported the committee’s proposal and moved to authorize pre-payment; the motion, seconded by Doug Verdegan, passed 7-0. Trustees said the change was intended to improve timeliness for vendor payments.
Separately, the board voted to change the district’s depository from Superior Choice Credit Union to Ladysmith Federal Savings and Loan. Motion by Doug Verdegan and seconded by Laura Dutter-Nelson carried 7-0. Board members discussed reviewing how payments and bills are processed to ensure internal controls are appropriate with the new arrangement.
The board also approved removing former signatory Erica Schley and adding Interim District Administrator Sheri Kopka as a new signatory (see personnel actions). Administration will follow up with banks to update records.
