The Flambeau School District Board unanimously approved a slate of student field trips during its Feb. 19 meeting.
Motions carried to approve the History Club's final out-of-state trip to the Minnesota Zoo, the fifth-grade initial request to Duluth, MN, the high school Spanish Club's initial out-of-country request to Peru, and an initial out-of-state/overnight trip for the High School Honors Choir to St. Scholastica. The field-trip motions were moved by Doug Verdegan and/or Jennifer Heath and passed 7-0.
Board members reviewed Policy 2340 (Field Trips) and noted the policy text does not require out-of-state trips to occur twice; Interim District Administrator Sheri Kopka said she will work with the policy committee as she becomes familiar with policies that may need updates.
Each trip was approved as presented; the board did not discuss student rosters or funding sources in the open minutes. Parents and staff will receive trip details via the usual school communications channels.
