UN highlights Gaza humanitarian crisis as UNICEF reports about 300 children killed

At the briefing, Farhan said partners report that civilians in the Gaza Strip continue to face intense military strikes and limited access to safe water and health services. He relayed UNICEF's figure that "at least 300 children have been reportedly been killed in Gaza in the past 300 days," which the briefing framed as roughly an average of one child a day.
The UN and partners have been scaling up assistance: last week partners distributed more than 800 hygiene kits and water containers for 50 displaced families and issued thousands of child identification cards and notebooks; partners also provided cash assistance and assistive devices to more than 500 children with disabilities. Farhan said the opening of a new safe space in North Gaza Governorate aims to support women and girls, but he stressed that expanding services depends on additional funding and safe access to all areas.
