Plaistow CIP Committee to remake plan presentation, sets schedule for fall review

The Plaistow Capital Improvements Plan Committee on June 24 agreed to overhaul how the town’s CIP is presented to voters and other boards, aiming for a condensed, visual product and an accelerated schedule for review.
"The existing CIP is way too unwieldy," Chair Dan Kane said, and asked that staff format a readable version with "a series of pages and a visual summary page." Kane asked Planning Technician Shea Ramaker to help format the material in PowerPoint and to distribute CIP update request forms to department heads so the committee can gather the necessary information.
Kane framed the committee’s work under state law, noting RSA 674:5-8: "the sole purpose of the CIP Committee is to provide a recommendation to the Planning Board to recommend to the BOS," and described the committee’s role in providing analysis and context that could accompany ballot materials. Committee members agreed on a meeting cadence—late July, August and September—to finish the draft product in time for Planning Board review at its first November meeting, with finalization aimed for early October.
The committee also discussed elements to include in the condensed product, such as brief justifications and context for each CIP request and potential inclusion of vote records from the Planning Board, Budget Committee and Board of Selectmen to help voters understand the recommendations. The meeting opened at 5:30 PM and adjourned at 5:50 PM.
