Board sets open-enrollment seats for 2025–26, adjusts two regular-education slots

Member Heisner moved to "approve Special Education Program Open Enrollment limits as presented," and Member Johnston seconded. The motion passed on a roll-call vote with all six members present voting yes: Heisner, Johnston, Skelding, Busch, Harris and Dunn (6-0). Heisner then moved to revise the Regular Education open-enrollment limits to set third grade at 1 seat and eighth grade at 1 seat, leaving other grades as presented; Johnston seconded and the board again approved the change 6-0.
Per the agenda announcement, "Per state statutes, the nonresident school board shall determine the number of regular education and special education spaces available within the school district during the January meeting of the school board." The board took the votes in the January session to comply with that statutory timing.
Board members did not attach further conditions to the approvals during the meeting. No public comments about open enrollment were recorded at the meeting.
What happens next: the board's determinations will be used to post nonresident enrollment availability for the coming school year and to guide application processing under state open-enrollment rules.
