Pueblo County School District 70 staff told the board they will pilot two preschool curricula, Frog Street and Investigators Club, for the 2026–27 school year to align early learning with Colorado standards and UPK requirements.
Holly Corsantino (speaker 9) said the district selected the two programs based on preschool director surveys and the state’s approved list of curricula. "We are hopeful to align our preschool instruction with the Colorado academic standards and the UPK requirements," she said, adding that six preschools will use one program for the first semester and switch to the other in the second semester so directors and classrooms can evaluate both.
Staff estimated the cost to pilot and purchase materials to transition to a single curriculum at about $85,000–$90,000 for the year. Board members asked whether both curricula include social‑emotional learning components and whether staff would collect comparative data; presenters confirmed both include SEL elements and that the district will gather implementation feedback and data before bringing a recommendation for board vote.
