Wimberley ISD board reviews plan for May 2025 bond with four propositions

The Wimberley Independent School District Board of Trustees on Jan. 29, 2025 reviewed a Facility Needs Task Force recommendation and draft ballot language for a possible May 2025 bond election that would include four propositions: Proposition A (General Proposition), Proposition B (Instructional Technology), Proposition C (Texan Stadium Improvements) and Proposition D (Shaded Multipurpose Activity Center). The board meeting was convened by Board President Dr. Rob Campbell and included presentations from district administrators, bond counsel and the district's financial advisor.
Superintendent-level staff and the district's facilities lead presented an overview of the proposed bond program and its possible impact on Maintenance & Operations (M&O) costs, including the additional insurance expense cited for the proposed Multipurpose Educational Auditorium. Bond counsel Stephanie Liebe (Norton Rose Fulbright) outlined the legal framework and election schedule required for school-district bond elections; she noted that by law a bond election must be called no later than the 78th day before the general election. The board was shown draft ballot language and told all ballot language must indicate the proposition will cause a property-tax increase.
Board members asked for additional detail on the Facility Task Force membership, project cost estimates and procurement approach before moving forward. The board scheduled follow-up discussion at its Feb. 10, 2025 meeting and was reminded that Feb. 14, 2025 is the final day to call a May 2025 election under the 78-day rule. No formal vote to call the bond was taken at the Jan. 29 meeting.
