"We did have 5 bids that came in," the insurance presenter said, and then described administrative fee estimates that vary by vendor. One example staff offered: extrapolating a $44-per-employee‑per‑month fee yields roughly $1.1 million in annual administrative costs; other bids were higher. Staff also proposed a 20% increase in district contributions to better fund the self‑insured plan and projected district contributions near $23 million and estimated employee contributions near $4 million under the proposed structure.
Staff told the board the employee benefits committee will meet June 15 to review best and final offers; recommendations for a TPA and PBM will be presented to the board on June 22. Trustees asked for clearer comparisons of network size and access and requested documentation on international or imported prescription sourcing that some vendors propose as a cost‑saving option. Staff said some vendors use Canadian supply channels for mail‑order prescriptions and that additional details will be provided to the board before final action.
