Miss Ridenour presented the first reading of a supplemental budget ordinance that would appropriate $4,000 for a winter archery deer-management program and $20,500 for additional sustainability technical assistance.
Ridenour said the $4,000 is the start-up amount for the bow-and-arrow portion of the program and that additional funding would appear in next year’s budget. She also referenced Resolution 7769, which allocated $16,000 for tax credit assistance and battery recycling tied to wastewater treatment plant and senior-center solar projects, and said staff expects to receive $1,020,000 in tax credits but needs technical assistance to apply for them.
Chief Jones and other councilors asked clarifying questions about program scope and implementation; Chief Jones explained the program will offer incentives and help pay some processing costs for hunters. Council took no final action on the budget at the first reading and will return the item in two weeks.
