Council received first reading of an ordinance accepting an annexation petition from Ambassadors Pointe Community Church West Inc. for 6.753 acres in Oxford Township.
Staff explained the petition used an expedited type‑2 annexation process, the city manager served as the statutory agent for the petitioner, and Butler County commissioners approved the annexation on 06/02/2026. Staff recommended passage after two readings at the next council meeting.
Tom Cook, a Brown Road resident and township trustee, told council the township "doesn't have any issue with this annexation other than the fact that the township trustees were not involved in the conversation before the county commissioners approved it," urging better communication between the city and township trustees. Councilors asked whether site plans exist (staff: not yet) and emphasized continuing outreach; the ordinance will return for further consideration in two weeks.
