Public Works staff told the Water and Sewer Committee that several fire hydrants are aging and beginning to leak. "Hydrants are getting old and starting to leak," Public Works Director Joe Smith said during the Feb. 24 meeting.
Alderman Begley moved, and Chairman Brennan seconded, approval to purchase three hydrants from EJ USA, Inc. for $12,674.49; the motion passed on a voice vote. Separately, the committee approved a $5,711.24 payment to Airy’s Inc. to replace a leaking hydrant at 6232 W. 127th Pl.
