The City of Palos Heights Municipal Grounds and Property Committee on Feb. 24 approved payment to the Illinois Department of Transportation for the Cal‑Sag Trail at Lake Katherine project in the amount of $154,106.14. The committee record shows the payment covers the city’s 20% share of construction for a concrete paver parking lot, a retention basin and drainage improvements.
Public Works Director Joe Smith had reported the city owed 20% of the project cost and that IDOT was requesting repayment. Chairman Begley moved to approve the payment; Alderman Brennan seconded the motion, which passed unanimously on a voice vote. Alderman Clifford later secured a separate engineering payment for a related Phase III rendering (see separate action).
