Fort Mojave Mesa approves amended FY2027 budget after revenue correction

The Fort Mojave Mesa Fire District Board approved an amended preliminary budget for fiscal year 2027 at a special meeting July 7 at Station 92 in Fort Mohave.
Staff told the board that "the corrected tax revenue amount was $188,841 lower than what had been included in the previous budget," and that a previously budgeted $87,000 health-trust overrun will not be the District's responsibility, allowing that line item to be removed. Staff also identified an additional $22,500 expense to integrate Phoenix G2 with the Colorado City Dispatch Center. Board members were briefed on multiple amendment options prior to the public meeting.
Board members Arden Lauxman and Michael Bell stated they would not support raising the tax levy; staff and the board noted that without a levy increase the capital expenditure line item would be reduced by $124,340. Sher Voelker recused herself from the budget discussion and left the room until the vote was concluded.
Arden Lauxman moved to approve amended budget option A; Michala Cross seconded. Roll call vote: Arden Lauxman, Aye; Michala Cross, Aye; Michael Bell, Aye. Motion carried and the amended budget option A was approved.
