The Grundy Center City Council approved several consent items at its Sept. 16 meeting. The council approved the minutes of the regular session held Sept. 9, 2024, and granted two 5‑day liquor licenses: Lucky Wife Wine Slushies, 503 Wical Way, for Sept. 24–29, 2024 (for an event at Creekside), and Top of Iowa Lucky Wife for Oct. 8–13, 2024 (for a Girls Night Out event).
The council also approved an open burning notice allowing yard waste burning from Oct. 14 through Nov. 30, 2024, and authorized closing H Avenue from the 7th Street intersection north to the alley to accommodate Kling Memorial Library's Touch‑A‑Truck event on Wednesday, Oct. 9 (7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.). The consent package was moved and seconded and carried with five ayes.
