Maggie Burger, a Speer Financial adviser, presented the city's Annual TIF and Debt Report and told the council the city should begin planning for upcoming projects as certain general-obligation bonds reach payoff.
"The City should begin the planning stages on the next projects because there are a couple GO Bonds that will be paid in full in the next few years," Burger said. The presentation summarized outstanding GO bonds, revenue bonds and tax-increment financing agreements and identified timing that could free capacity for new capital work.
Councilmembers did not take formal action on the presentation but acknowledged the timing information. The TIF and debt overview will inform budget and capital planning discussions ahead of the November budget workshop in Cedar Falls.
