The Recreation Department reported that the Recreation and Youth Commission is pursuing a splash pad and that a vendor is expected to meet with town staff next week to discuss options.
"It's being pursued," said Phil, a Recreation Department representative, and added: "We're supposed to have a meeting next Tuesday, with someone from a company that has these splash pads, but it's not posted right now." Phil described a possible layout roughly parallel and adjacent to the dirt parking area and said there are two common system types: recirculating systems that filter and reuse water and single-pass systems that discharge to ground and thus require less daily pool-company maintenance.
Committee members discussed placement, parking and longer-term maintenance and funding. One member noted fields also need electrical and irrigation work and cautioned that the Community Preservation Committee (CPC) submission list is already long; Phil said the splash pad is unlikely to be brought to CPC this year. The committee agreed to share information at an upcoming joint meeting with the Council on Aging and Recreation Department to clarify ownership, funding sources and next steps.
