Trustees approved the agenda and staff walked the board through staff-recommended edits and CSBA-suggested changes; no public comment cards were submitted for this special meeting.
Christina, a district staff member who led the packet overview, told trustees the process will be repeated annually so the district can manage quarterly CSBA updates and legal changes. "We would like to recommend that we do this process annually," she said, explaining staff will compile suggested updates into a binder for board review in the spring. Trustees asked scheduling questions and staff agreed to make minor clarifying edits before a second reading targeted for the district's August meeting.
The session covered specific policy items including residency verification for enrollment, LEAP academy enrollment priorities (including English learner inclusion), BP 5145.12 on searches of electronic devices, world-language program models (90/10 and 50/50), environmental‑literacy goals in the LCAP, student study teams (SST), transitional‑kindergarten admittance dates, and concurrent‑enrollment (CCAP) partnerships with community colleges. Staff placed revised copies on the table for public inspection and said additional edits will be prepared for the second reading.
