Weatherford recreation programs report high enrollment and wait lists for summer camps and lessons

Parks staff told the board on July 24 that summer recreation programs are operating at or near capacity. "We have 368 kids, for that camp. We have a wait list of 57 kids," the staff member said of Camp Wrangler, the department's full-day summer program. Staff said field trips, weekly swims and other activities contributed to popularity.
Staff also reported 641 participants in swim lessons with 223 on a wait list, a 112-member swim team, and heavy demand for pool reservations and pavilion rentals (182 pavilion rentals across the park system and facility-specific counts listed in the packet). The record shows many programs were disrupted earlier in the season by weather cancellations, which staff said contributed to high wait lists.
