Riviera ISD staff reported a jump in certified residential property values that will factor into the district's 2025–26 tax calculations. Director of District Operations Jolynn Moreno said certified values received July 25 showed the average market value of a home rising "from $198,651 to $248,745," a change she said must be weighed against the state-set MCR tax rate, which has declined.
Moreno also warned trustees that the appraisal district is still processing protests and that outcomes could affect final taxable values. "Estimated additional revenue from protested properties could be up to $150,000, depending on outcomes," she said. Trustees expressed concern about delays at the appraisal district and the accuracy of the data used for budgeting, and asked staff to track protest resolutions before the board proceeds with budget adoption.
