The Ventilation presenter told the council a site assessment at the water treatment plant found "equipment ventilation equipment in the facility now that, no longer functions, due to the corrosive nature of the chlorine in the air," and that corrosion has worsened code-compliance problems and shortened equipment life.
He recommended a Phase 1 package (budgeted in FY 26–27) to replace a central makeup air unit (Makeup Area 3) with a higher-capacity unit to ventilate the central quarter of the facility — including the basement and aerator room — and to replace the inoperable fan-coil unit FC2 serving the high-service pump room, the pipe gallery and adjacent unventilated spaces. "By increasing the capacity of this unit, replacing it, and ventilating those spaces continuously, we could reduce the, chlorine intrusion, reduce the odors, improve the indirect quality, and lower humidity," he said.
Presenter said the Phase 1 work is intended to both improve indoor air quality and extend the life of process equipment rather than add fundamentally new functions. No formal vote on the assessment was recorded in the transcript; at the end of the presentation the presenter asked the body to accept the assessment but the transcript does not show a motion or result.
