Bill Young and district staff explained that while some underground piping can last up to 50 years, the Inderkum campus is approaching 25 years old and staff are evaluating whether components will require replacement. "A recommendation at this time to set aside $1,000,000" for the geothermal system was presented as part of the list of committed reserves, staff said.
Trustee Mora asked staff for context on the original installation and replacement timing. Staff replied the school is nearing 25 years old and that while piping can last up to 50 years, the district is examining whether that lifespan will hold and is preparing accordingly. The board approved the unaudited actuals and the related funds commitments that included the geothermal set‑aside.
