APC continues hearing on adding Thorntown to commission membership

The Boone County Area Planning Commission on Aug. 5 continued a public hearing on a proposed amendment to the APC enabling ordinance that would add Thorntown to APC membership. Executive director Nick said he had not received follow-up from Thorntown on a list of concerns submitted to the commission. Several board members said they wanted Thorntown to engage before the commission moved forward.
Randy Bruder, speaking during the hearing, told the commission, "We have not received any kind of anything from you, so we've been just sitting back waiting," underlining the lack of direct communication. Commissioners discussed procedural and plan-related issues, including whether Thorntown has an active plan commission and if any outstanding permit requests remain. Given the gaps in mutual information, the commission voted to continue the hearing to the APC meeting scheduled Sept. 2 at 7:00 p.m. so Thorntown officials can respond and the board can review outstanding items.
