Personnel committee to review snow-day pay policy for hourly support staff

At the Jan. 6 Personnel Committee meeting of the Mineral Point Unified School District Board of Trustees, members reviewed the district’s paid snow-day policy for hourly support staff and discussed whether to increase the number of paid days. The minutes state that currently any hourly employee is granted two snow days with pay each year; if the district uses more than two days, an hourly employee must use sick or vacation time to remain paid.
Committee members asked Mitch Wainwright to survey surrounding districts to determine how they treat paid snow days for support staff, with the goal of ensuring the district remains competitive as an employer. The minutes note that the committee plans to report the survey findings at the next personnel committee meeting. No motion or vote was recorded on changing the policy at this meeting.
